Sight Words!

Everyday, at snack time, we sing sight word songs! These songs have really helped us learn our sight words better! You can watch them at home for extra practice! Here is an example...

Nov.10 update!

It’s hard to believe that Thanksgiving is right around the corner! We have accomplished so much!  The letters that we have studied are F,M,B,S,D,A,J,P,H. However, we do many songs and activities that include all of the letters. The sight words that we have covered are as follows: A, I, see, the, this, is, me, our, here, big, can, no, to, play, we, go, little, and up as well as all of the color words.
This week we are covering letter C and sight words you and goes. The following week is only two days and so it will be a review week.
The kids are now rhyming and reading simple text with the help of pictures. This week, I will focus on learning what a question is and how to ask a question. We will keep work on all of the strategies that make a good reader! We are finishing up our unit on the 5 senses and moving on to learning about our Earth! I will be assessing the children all week in order to have the most up to date data for our conferences.
Take a look at some of the other activities that we have been doing!
We practice forming shapes and numbers with play dough.

Science: Learning about the sense of touch and temperature.

Singing our color song!

Stretching out words!

Learning about estimation.

Beginning addition! Roll, count and color!

We read Duck for President. Do you like our stickers? They say I voted!

New play center- puppets!

New writing center! They love the easel!

Coming soon: Children read a sight word then practice spelling it by pretending to type it on their personal keyboard!
