Update/Welcome Back!

I hope everyone has enjoyed their time off.  I have great news to share about our aid, Mrs. S. The district has extended her stay until the end of the year!  We are so happy to have her!

We will be welcoming a new student to our class this week. Welcome to our school!

This week we will be completing a unit on the author Jan Brett. To go along with this we will be doing many mitten activities. We will be retelling the story The Mitten, writing about it and even doing some mitten math!  I will also be doing a lot of review this week to get back into the swing of things. By next week, I hope to introduce a bit of subtraction, new reading strategies, and a new writing center call the Squiggle Center! We will also be starting our "My Earth" unit in Science.

If we have school tomorrow (Wednesday), I will not be there in he morning due to an appointment. I will see the students in the afternoon. If you have any important transportation changes please be sure to put a note in their binder so that Mrs. S can let me know.  Please make sure to turn in your homework packet and yellow Reading Practice Packet as well.

If you are looking for something to do today check out starfall.com and abcya.com. There are wonderful learning activities on both sites. The kids love them and stay very engaged.

Coming Soon....
We have been learning age appropriate technology lessons such as staying safe online.  As a whole group, we will be learning about and using Twitter to communicate with parents, experts and other classrooms. In past years, we have tweeted The Toledo Zoo and Meteorologists with questions that we had.  They write us back and it makes for great learning. You can follow our class @seegertsclass or just check out the widget at the right side of  this page. Twitter is a great tool to teach summarizing and editing skills. It also helps to keep you informed about our week. It can make a great conversation starter with  your child. To learn more click on the following links... I encourage you to watch the short video clip on the first link.
